After two rounds of matches were played in Group B of DreamHack Masters Spring - North America, Evil Geniuses are left without a chance to secure a playoff spot, making their final game against 100 Thieves a formality.
The woes of Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's men continue as the North American powerhouse suffered two group stage exits in a row. In ESL One: Road to Rio, Evil Geniuses conceded losses to 100 Thieves, Gen.G, and Cloud9, with the latter two teams taking them down gain in DreamHack Masters Spring.
Due to how the other matches in Group B played out, Evil Geniuses can earn a victory over 100 Thieves in the final match, but won't be able to advance because of a tie with Gen.G or Cloud9, where they place last due to the head-to-head result. Meanwhile, 100 Thieves have secured the top spot in the group with two wins from two games.
Even though the final match is inconsequential in the scheme of the tournament, beating the team led by their former coach Chet "Chet" Singh could be beneficial to the struggling team's morale leading up to their next challenge: BLAST Premier Spring Showdown.
Group B TEAM M PAs the team that was shortly ranked #1 in the world in November of last year continues their decline and is currently ranked ninth, Evil Geniuses will be desperate for a good placing in the upcoming BLAST event. There, they will once again face off against Cloud9 and 100 Thieves, but claimining one of the three playoff spots still looks likely as Triumph (ranked #50) complete the group.
